How to Make Dried Bread Crumbs
Homemade bread crumbs are easy to make and a great way to use up leftover bread. Bread crumbs add crunch as a topping for casseroles, help bind ingredients for meatballs, and are an essential breading for extra crispy chicken fingers.

- Bread (any type or amount)
Preheat your oven to 250˚F (120˚C).
Place your bread slices in a single layer on baking sheets.
Bake for about 10 minutes, flip the slices over, and bake until crisp, about 5-10 minutes longer. Bread is finished when it is crunchy and snaps when you break the slices into pieces.
Remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the bread cool. Break up the slices with your hands, and place in a food processor. Pulse the food processor to grind the bread into crumbs with an even texture.
Store the breadcrumb in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks in the pantry, or freeze for up to six months.
Add your homemade bread crumbs to your favorite recipes the same way you would use the store bought bread crumbs.
