Each Monday, Daphne’s Dandelions hosts “Harvest Monday” where everyone can share links to their harvest for the week. It’s fun to see what everyone is gathering from his or her gardens in different areas.
We were lucky to have such nice weather into October but now that things are returning to normal it seems so sudden and it takes a bit for the body to adjust. Nights were predicted to be in the 20s so I harvested most of the fall lettuce, as I didn’t think it would survive unprotected:
A wild windy rainstorm came through our area and released some of the apples that were too high for us to reach. I gathered all the good ones before the deer got to them. I made these into crockpot applesauce that I will post later in the week:
The most exciting harvest were the eggs gathered from the first chicken to begin laying. She laid two the first day, then one every other day for a total of four:
A few garden beds were cleaned up and layered with straw for winter, the garlic was finally planted, and I caught up with the pile of ripening tomatoes on the counter.
Be sure to visit Daphne’s Dandelions to see what others are harvesting this week.
